Get Smart

Published by hiliminarious at 10:17 pm under Reviews Edit This

Get Smart may not be the best movie of the summer, but it’s definitely worth checking out. Carell does a great job as Maxwell Smart, a newly ordained CONTROL field agent who, with the help of Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway), must stop the dastardly plans of the evil KAOS.

The plot does get a tad predictable, but that’s not what you’re in for when you watch this film. You’re in it for the comedy, and for the fun of it all. And man is there fun to be had. The banter between Smart and 99 is cute and funny. Even Dwayne Johnson, who plays Agent 23, does a solid job keeping up with the jokes. The cameo by Bill Murray as Agent 13 was probably one of my favorite moments in the film. His appearance alone makes this movie worth watching.

As much as this movie is fun, light, entertainment, it’s also – quite unfortunately – forgettable. Much like the recent Bewitched movie, this movie is enjoyable. But at the same time, it’s not something you’re probably going to be talking about for the next week or two. I watched it just last night and I already sometimes forget I watched a movie. It’s a good time waster, if you want to be in a nice, cold theater for a couple of hours instead of baking in the hot summer sun.

So if you’re looking for something fun to watch, something to just simply entertain you for a couple of hours, Get Smart is a great movie. If what you want is something memorable, something with a great plot or something with more substance, watch something else. Like Iron Man.
